MOBILE MESSAGING TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Multnomah Channel Yacht Club (“Multnomah Channel Yacht Club”, “we”, or “us”) operates a mobile messaging program (the “Program”) subject to these Mobile Messaging Terms and Conditions (these “Mobile Messaging Terms”). The Program and our collection and use of your personal information is also subject to our Privacy Policy Multnomah Channel Yacht Club (mcyc1.org). By enrolling, signing up, or otherwise agreeing to participate in the Program, you accept and agree to these Mobile Messaging Terms and our Privacy Policy.

Program Description: We may send promotional, event and safety alerts in various formats through the Program. Promotional messages advertise and promote our products and services and may include events, club alerts, meeting invites and special safety alerts. Mobile messages may be sent using an automated technology, including an autodialer, automated system, or automatic telephone dialing system. Message frequency will vary. You agree that we, our affiliates, and any third-party service providers may send you messages regarding the foregoing topics or any topic and that such messages and/or calls may be made or placed using different telephone numbers or short codes. We do not charge for mobile messages sent through the Program but you are responsible for any message and data rates imposed by your mobile provider, as standard data and message rates may apply for short message service and multimedia message alerts.

  1. User Opt-In: By providing your mobile phone number to us, you are voluntarily opting in to the Program and you agree to receive recurring mobile messages from us at the mobile phone number associated with your opt-in, even if such number is registered on any state or federal “Do Not Call” list. You agree that any mobile phone number you provide to us is a valid mobile phone number of which you are the owner or authorized user. If you change your mobile phone number or are no longer the owner or authorized user of the mobile phone number, you agree to promptly notify us at webmaster@mycyc1.org. Your participation in the Program is not required to make any purchase from us and your participation in the Program is completely voluntary.
  2. User Opt-Out and Support: You may opt-out of the Program at any If you wish to opt-out of the Program and stop receiving mobile messages from us, or you no longer agree to these Mobile Messaging Terms, reply STOP, QUIT, CANCEL, OPT-OUT, and/or UNSUBSCRIBE to any mobile message from us. You may continue to receive text messages for a short period while we process your request, and you may receive a one-time opt-out confirmation message. You understand and agree that the foregoing is the only reasonable method of opting out. If you want to join the Program again, just sign up as you did the first time, and we will start sending messages to you again. For support, reply HELP to any mobile message from us.

Our mobile messaging platform may not recognize requests that modify the foregoing commands, and you agree that we and our service providers will not be liable for failing to honor requests that do not comply with the requirements in these Mobile Messaging Terms. We may also change the telephone number or short code we use to operate the Program and we will notify you of any such change. You acknowledge that any requests sent to a telephone number or short code that has been changed may not be received by us and we will not be responsible for failing to honor a request sent to a telephone number or short code that has been changed.

  1. Disclaimer of Warranty and Liability: The Program is offered on an “as-is” basis and may not be available in all areas, at all times, or on all mobile providers. You agree that neither we nor our service providers will be liable for any failed, delayed, or misdirected delivery of any mobile message or information sent through the Program.

  2. Modifications: We may modify or cancel the Program or any of its features at any time, with or without notice. To the extent permitted by applicable law, we may also modify these Mobile Messaging Terms at any Any such modification will take effect when it is posted to our website. You agree to review these Mobile Messaging Terms periodically to ensure that you are aware of any modifications. Your continued participation in the Program will constitute your acceptance of those modifications.

FAQ

Membership

i don't own a boat. can i still be a member?

YES! membership is open to all individuals who are interested in boating or other water activities. Boat ownership is not a requisite for club membership.

how do i sign up?

All new member applications must be electronically submitted on the MCYC website.  Once submitted a Membership Chairperson will review for processing.

how much does it cost to join?

There is a one-time initiation fee of $125, a background check per person of $45 and yearly dues are $160 per membership. Dues are payable at the first General Membership meeting after January 1st of each year. In addition, each adult member must purchase $60 in vouchers which can be used to purchase alcohol, dinners, party fees, etc.

what if i join in the middle of the year?

Dues may be paid by paying for the first half of the year in January and the second half in July. A new member joining after Feb. 1st will have their dues prorated evenly by the months remaining in the year.

can i bring a pet?

All pets must be on a leash and under control when on the MCYC premises. Pets are not allowed in the clubhouse and pet owners are responsible for disposing of their pet's waste.

are there any obligations i have as a member?

Each member will be responsible to serve once a year at a regular meeting by assisting in the preparation and serving of refreshments and for being Chairman or Cochairman on one party. Opening Day participation is strongly encouraged for all MCYC members.

Moorage

is there a map of the moorage?

how much does it cost to lease a slip?

Prices range from $125 to $190 per month depending on the length of vessel. MCYC Members temporarily renting but not leasing will pay two times the listed rental fees for all boat slips.

how do i request a position on the moorage list?

Must be a MCYC club member and in good standing. Submit a request form from the Moorage Manager stating slip requirements. Persons on the list shall keep the Moorage Manager informed of their present mailing address, email address and phone number.

Marina and NonMembers

i need to do some work on my boat. can i do that in the marina?

It is prohibited to do any in-water scraping or any process that occurs underwater which removes paint from the hull.

Always mix paints and epoxy over a tarp.

Spray painting is not allowed within the marina.

Do not dispose of paints or solvents in the marina's dumpster.

what should i do with sewage?

Untreated sewage should never be discharged directly overboard. Dispose of sewage properly at pump-out stations.

what should i do with solid waste?

Dispose of all garbage in the proper shore-side receptacles.

Recycle all plastics, newspapers, cardboard and aluminum in proper receptacles

can i give a nonmember the code to the clubhouse lock

Nonmembers shall not be allowed access to the MCYC clubhouse, float house, or storage shed unless they are accompanied by a club member.

i'm going to have some relatives staying at my hour or boat while i'm not there. is this ok?

Relatives of members may have access to the parking lot and walkways when:

  1. They have consent of their relative member.
  2. The member notifies an Officer of the Club or the Moorage Manager of their wishes.
  3. They are aware they must follow the same rules that apply to the members. The Moorage Manager must be notified of the names of all relatives who have gate lock codes.

i'm having some work done on my house or boat. can i give contractors the gate lock code?

Contractors, repair people and any nonmembers will not be given the gate lock code without consent and knowledge of the Board, Port Captain or Moorage Manager.

Clubhouse, Meetings and Parties

where is the best place to buy food for a meeting or party?

Some good options are Costco, Winco Foods, and any Cash and Carry.

for which expenses will i get reimbursed?

All expenses will be reimbursed including costs of food, paper goods, decorations, travel expenses, cost of prizes, etc.

how do i go about getting reimbursed?

Fill out an expense report (found in the kitchen) and turn it in to the Treasurer along with any cash/scrip that is left over after all expenses have been reimbursed.

where do i find the cash box for door admission money?

Please check with Clubhouse Manager.

how much does it cost to rent the clubhouse for a private party?

Rental fee to members is $100 plus a $65 returnable cleaning fee.

Request must be in writing and must include necessary fees.

do i have to provide my own supplies?

Club supplies are for club functions only. Members using the clubhouse for their own parties are to provide their own coffee, paper goods, etc.

can i serve alcohol at my party?

Only individuals holding a valid OLCC Service Permit may serve alcoholic beverages to members and invited guests of MCYC. OLCC requires that all private parties providing liquor must take the form of a hosted bar and the host must be a member of MCYC.

who cleans up after a party?

Members will leave the clubhouse as they found it or better, including clean grills, floors, bathrooms, kitchen, etc.

Multnomah Channel Yacht Club membership is open to all boaters and non-boaters. Enjoy the benefits and privileges of belonging to a private club. For more than 60 years MCYC has held on to its founding principles--to build a yacht club with a warm and friendly culture that meets the boating and social needs of its members. This same culture exists today just as it did in 1962 and our goal is to have these traditions continue.

In addition, active membership in the Multnomah Channel Yacht Club also brings reciprocity to other yacht clubs worldwide. Enjoy all the benefits while you are out of town or traveling the world.

On behalf of the Officers and membership of the Multnomah Channel Yacht Club (MCYC) we want to THANK YOU for your interest in MCYC Membership. We have a history of strong community participation, and pleasure boating traditions. Our goal is to provide our members a safe, secure and user friendly club and marina for your boating and social enjoyment. We believe success and the future of our Yacht Club is a direct result of membership participation and working in a cooperative effort towards common goals.

The MCYC Membership Committee’s desire is to provide prospective members complete information pertaining to our club procedures and operations and assist you in becoming a valued and long-term member. Please carefully read through the materials provided. This will give you the opportunity to be better informed, ensure this is a good fit for you, and help in some of the questions you may have in the onboarding process.

Application Information
To help new members get acquainted, you will have the opportunity during the process to participate in some club activities and, with your sponsor’s help, learn about what MCYC does and how you can be involved. We count on the active participation of all our members in our continued efforts to make MCYC a solid member of the community and the greater pleasure boat family.

Yes, I want to Join what do I do now?

Here’s what you need to do… Complete and submit the following items to the MCYC Membership Committee Chair.  

  1. Complete the Member Application Form pack with signatures.
  2. Complete the Club Moorage Application. (complete this if you want to apply for moorage)
  3. Complete the Club Service Program (CPS) Participian form here! (Coming soon, not needed)

Review Process.

Once you have submitted your application, it will be reviewed by our Membership Commitiee Chair and presented to the Board of Trustees.

Upon review, you will be requested to paricipate in the following:

  1. Before attendance, the following fees will be required.  $125 as an application fee, and $40 for background check per person (over the age of 21). ALink will emailed complete both transactions.
  2. Interview with the MCYC Board of Directors at a Board Meeting.
  3. Attend one general club meeting. 
  4. Participate in one club sponspored event.

The dates and times for the above general meeting, club events and interview with the MCYC Board will be provided to you by either your sponsor or Membership Committe Chair and can also be found on the MCYC Club Calendar.

I am approved what now?. 

  1. You will submit your annual membership fee (this will be emailed to you at a prorated rate).
  2. You be given access the club grounds and members only section of the website.
  3. Finally, you will be inducted and introduced as members during a general meeting at the club house.

Note: The entire time line generally takes between 60 to 90 days. During this time, we encourage you to join with your sponsors or membership committe chair as a guest at various social and boating events.
